MARS Inc. Taps Former Johnson & Johnson Exec to Lead new Pet Care Division

MARS Inc, the pet industry behemoth just tapped former Johnson and Johnson executive, Nefertiti Grenne as president of their new science and diagnostic division.   You can read the full article here

Apparently, "new Science & Diagnostics division will work across multiple areas of pet care, including data science, dog and cat microbiomes, health and disease biomarkers and pet nutrition to develop advanced health and wellness care products."

There are many problems with this statement including the words "biomarkers" and "wellness."  First of all, biomarkers are a biological description of the body and include pulse, blood pressure and various blood work panels.   To maintain animal "wellness," optimal nutrition, environment, thoughtful vaccination and exercise are crucial.  MARS Inc. does not care about your animals' biomarkers and wellness.

They care about profit. Period.  This is evidenced by the sub-par ingredients they use in their 41 different brands of kibble with ingredient lists that are too long and hard to pronounce, which means it should not be consumed.  Does "chicken by-product meal," "pork meal," and "wheat gluten" sound like it is going to keep your animal well?  Because I can tell you from first-hand experience that it will not.  I am quoting this ingredient list directly from Royal Canin's "bulldog" flavor of kibble.  You can see it here.  Additionally, their facilities that mass-produce kibble are often unsanitary and unregulated.  One facility was literally infested with roaches.  You can read more on that one here.

As for "tapping" former J&J executive, Nefertiti Greene, why is MARS Inc, a sugar company controlling global animal welfare and leading pet care and why is a person from pharma now in charge?

It's because the veterinary industry is in the business of keeping animals alive, not curing them or keeping them healthy. Vet schools are funded by the dog food guy, the dog food guy is also owned by the vaccine guy and the vaccine guy makes the laws on what makes what legal and what is approved. The dog food guy is also friends with the vet board guy because the vet board guy is funded by the vaccine guy.
