Everything counts. Everything we do has a consequence, good or bad. Not to be an alarmist, but the world we live in is getting sicker, fatter and unhealthier. Disease in dogs is skyrocketing and most times, the best advice we are given is to give this pill, or that shot or this prescription food. This is terrible advice and our dogs deserve so much better. It is not the vets who are at fault here, it is big kibble and big pharma that literally control the entire industry. Everything counts and what we feed our dogs and the vaccines we give, have a profound impact on health - good or bad.
Everything counts, especially nutrition. We live in a backwards world where almost everyone is putting the wrong fuel in their car. And there's enormous corporate mechanic shops making billions off of it promoting more repairs. And nobody is addressing the bad fuel causing the problems. Food is fuel, which is nutrition. And in the case of most dogs, that fuel is kibble, which is literally killing them slowly. The corporate mechanic shops are Big Kibble...MARS Inc., Nestle Purina, Hill's. These are also the same companies that manufacture medicine, vaccines, supplements and treats. Instead of assessing the food our dogs eat, most vets will just throw more medication or prescriptions at the problem, but fail to correct the problem in the first place, which is BAD FOOD. Everything counts.
Kibble is bad because it fails to meet the nutritional needs of dogs. Think about it. Dogs have 42 teeth that are intended to cut meat and bone, just like wolves. They are genetically designed to survive and eat prey, not donuts, pizza or anything else highly processed, like kibble. Instinctively, dogs have a built-in desire to hunt for food and eat prey, which includes meat bones, organs and all. This type of diet is high in protein, fat and very low in carbohydrates. This is the polar opposite of kibble, which is very high in carbs, and lower in protein and fat. Additionally, kibble is made with a bunch of additives, palatants and mass produced at very high temperatures, which when eaten daily has been linked to increased cardiovascular diseases and metabolic diseases. Everything counts, including vaccines. Vaccines are important, but too many and too soon can be really harmful. In order to understand why they could be really harmful, it is very helpful to know how vaccines work. According to the BBC, in humans, "vaccines work by showing the body a microbial mugshot of a microscopic perpetrator like a virus or a bacteria that poses a threat to the body." This causes an immunological fire drill against the perpetrator, which provides practice for when the body is fighting off a real attack. And if a real attack does happen, the body ideally is primed to respond much faster, quicker and more efficiently to the threat. The same is true for our dogs.
Everything counts, if you keep vaccinating your dog (according to the AKC recommendations), you will keep triggering your dog's immune system to respond, which can often put the body into overdrive and cause side effects. These side effects can be minimal or more severe or acute or chronic based on genetics, age, gender, pre-existing conditions and the health of the gut microbiome.
